In my truck I have a dial for "2x4", "4AWD", "4x4 hi", and "4x4 lo". My questions are...
What is the difference between 4AWD & 4x4 ??
When would I use 4x4 hi and when would I use 4x4 lo ??

Thanks in advance !

2X4 is for normal day to day driving. 4AWD is for occasions when traction may be lacking, such as mixed ice and rain or snow packed conditions where the four wheel drive will engage the front axle if the rear wheels slip or loose traction. 4X4 HIis for full time engagement of the four wheel drive, engages both axles at all times for deep snow, sand or mud. 4X4LO is for extremely severe conditions, both axles are still engaged but the transfer case shifts into a lower gear giving you more even more power but lower speeds.

Under normal driving conditions and even in rain us the 2x4.
On snowy roads use the 4awd, the truck will send power to the wheels with traction.(only one wheel per axle will drive)
The 4x4 selection is strictly for low speed driving on off road rough terrain or if you're stuck and the regular 4awd won't get you out. Never drive on dry pavement or high speed when in 4x4 selection.
The difference between the two 4x4 is that the lo gives you more torque, for something like towing a boat out of the water on a steep slope.

Sounds like your truck has it all covered!!

2x4 is a selection for normal driving conditions meaning the rear wheels are the only ones pulling, 4awd means that the ecm decides when to engage the front wheels automatically when it detects slippage, 4 hi means that you have selected all wheels to pull for slick or rough terrain, 4 lo is for very rough terrain and very slick conditions while also providing a heavy gear reduction.
