With the pre-shrunk/shrink to fit 501s, are you supposed to wear them before washing them so they shrink to?

you need to wash your jeans before you where them if you dont wear underwear, because it can give u a rash.

I found this on the www.amazon.com website about Levi 501s:

1/ Remove all tags and labels.
2/ Lay the jeans flat.
3/ Roll the jeans up from the leg up to the waist, with the waist on top.
4/ Put the rolled up jeans in a pot filled with cold water. Make sure the jeans is completely submerged in water.
5/ Heat the water slowly to a boil and keeping the water temperature at the boiling point for 10 minutes.
6/ Remove.
7/ Turn the jeans inside out and wash it in the washing machine. I prefer luke warm water.
8/ Line dry or use the drier. If you use the drier, use the lower setting. This will prevent the thread to shrink differently from the fibre which will create 'wrinkles'.
9/ You may want to repeat Steps 7 and 8 until the jeans faded to the shading you want. I prefer mine in the darker shade.
10/ Wash as infrequently as possible thereafter.

Hint. a/ If the pot you have is too small. Fold the jeans into half before rolling for the boiling procedure.
b/ If the fold line of your new jeans is still there after boiling. I would suggest you dry it a bit and iron it
to flatten the fold line before washing. This with prevent 'crinkle lines' of faded denim.

Or you could just sit in the bath!
