I wonder that myself. I often think it's just another one of the signs of the disrespect and hate and contempt the rich in America hold for the people who are like they USED to be. They are just *******. Besides they like to meddle in other people's business especially overseas.

Several years ago a supervisor of mine was quite tired of fertility treatments and desperate for a child. she told me she and her husband were seriously considering adopting a child of Eastern-European decent.
As an adoptee I asked her this very question and her response was that she wouldn't be able to cope if the child's birth mother found them and wanted her baby back. With international adoptions the chances of this are about nil. When she put it like that it made sense to me. The Eastern-European thing was so the child would favor her and her husband somewhat.
My birth mother found me when I was 28 and I have to say that although my Mom encouraged the meeting she had some very real mixed emotions because for all intents and purposes I am HER daughter.
There is a lot less red tape when adopting internationally and much less expensive than you would think. the countries you mentioned have orphanages at capacity and are desperate to place the kids. I am not so sure it is a PC thing though at least to the regular folks that aren't part of Hollywood.

The children that are easily available to adopt in the US typically have significant physical or mental health problems, or are have had bad experiences with abuse or neglect, which can make children vary difficult to parent. Most adoptive parents strongly prefer children with ethnic backgrounds that are not too different from their own. Also, the cost of international adoption is typcially similar to domestic.
"Michael's" claim that biological parents can take back the children up until age 18 is incorrect. The fact is that California has the worst laws for that, and they "only" allow that to happen up until 6 months (of age or after the signoff; I'm not sure.) In Illinois, a deal can be irrevocable after the child is only 3 days old.

I have a sister and brother-in-law who adopted two children from Korea. The reason they did it was because it much easier, quicker, and they felt that the children would have so many more opportunities living in America than being orphans in Korea. I think it is a decision that should be left to those who will promise to raise them. A heart choice, not one to be "politically correct". Although if "P.C." is the reason, then the perspective parents should re-think their decision!

I don't know why everyone else does it but I know someone that did. She went on vacation with her husband and happened upon an orphanage. The children had to sleep three to one bed and only got one small meal per day. She ended up adopting three children. It cost her $30,000 per child. So, I think they do it because children here don't go hungry and are well cared for. But, that isn't the case in some places I guess.

It's a new way to accessorize. Katt Williams (quoted from Jay Leno show) is one of the celebrities to adopt children who are actually from America. You don't have to go to Russia and China. There needy children and orphans right around the block.
I believe that some, not all, of those who adopt children from other countries have sick and twisted plans for those kids.

the reason why poeple adopt kids from ooverseas its because there is less regulations in other nations when it comes to the adoption proces and some other people, the reason why they adopt kids from overseas its because they like to call atenttion to themselves
i guess for famous people like madonna its a way to get free publicity and try to make people believe that they care about bad situations in other parts of the world but what i think is that when you want to do some good, you dont have to tell everyone, and brag about it , because that makes it less credible.. thank you

For a few reasons. Typically, adoptions go through faster if the child is from another country. You also have less of a chance that their birth parents will take you to court and get their baby back. And, in the US, our orphans are usually taken better care of than countries with lots of famine and disease and the like. There are more babies over there, and their resources are stretched farther to take care of them.

Ophaned children in america are atleast provided with the basics food, water shelter and clothing. You cant say the same for the orphans in other countries. Also i heard its a lot easier to adopt internationally then it is adopting in america.

Adoption laws in the US state that the biological parents can take back custody of the child any time before the child has reached 18.
The possibility of having your adopted child taken from you, irregardless to the negative effect on them, might cause some people to look to adopting from overseas.
Besides, its not like they deserve it any less, and they might deserve it more considering the harsher conditions of wherever they live compared with America.
