I am pretty sure I found an Alligator Lizard crawling around my kitchen this morning. He has Amber colored eyes, and I think he is still a baby. How do you take care of these animals? I would like to keep him for a pet. Also, are these lizards native to Sacramento (CA) County?

Yes, I've seen them in SOCAL and in GA. Safe to say Southern.
Call the local animal place and find out if you can keep him. Some desert tortises and mice you can't keep. I'm not sure about any lizards. The pet shop will tell you how to take care of it.

Yes alligator lizards are native to CA. I wouldn't keep one as a pet though. It's wild and it should stay wild. You can get a cheap $10 one that is captive born and healthy.

Southern. You should release it. They live in places like around leaf litter where they feed on insects and snails. Although they're cool, they don't make the best of pets. Adults have painful bites for such small lizards too.
