humm.
(and just what is this "support" besides words and flag-waving?)

For the first time in the experience of any living people from the United States, we have sent an all-volunteer military force overseas to advance our interests for a prolonged period, and virtually nothing has been asked of the vast majority of those who do not have loved ones in the line of fire. The bargain is hardly fair.....

.and so, from this end, what else can we do on a grand scale for our troops? (A serious question)

I would support paying extra taxes if I know that the money would be used for job training and full tuition to any university they get into, full medical care, fully subsidized housing any where in the nation, (at least until they get on their feet), if they are foreigners they should also get a green card with expedited service to becoming a citizen, as well as job placement and even tax subsidies to anyone that hires a veteran. Listen, this might sound like a lot, but so is having your a s s hang in the wind getting shot at.

Wow- this is actually a very good question. It is a major problem that many people aren't faced directly with the war. It is like a work of fiction to them and that is why many feel that the right course is the ideological move of pulling out now that would actually cause us more military problems that would bring the war to their backyard. The best things we can do to contribute are to make sacrifices as often as we can afford. Send cards, games, and other comfort items to the troops whenever possible. Keep them in your prayers, and be sure to vote for people who will not undermine our troops funding.

Seriously, BRING THEM HOME! What is it in the minds of hard core conservatives that brings them to their knees anytime a Bush says we need to go to war. There is still no plausable reason why we should have gone to Iraq. Everyone went along with it because it was billed as being safer for our country.

How stupid does that sound....start a war so that we'll be safer? How do people think we've managed to instigate them in the first place? By doing the very same thing we're doing now. Going into their country with "good" intentions and pushing our democracy down their throat when they aren't hungry for it.

BRING THEM HOME NOW!

P.S. I'm a libertarian. Not a Liberal.

Stop selling arms to anyone with a buck. The USA has been arming every country in the middle east for over 30 years. Including Iran (Bush) and Iraq under Saddam (Bush Cheney).

It's absurd to say that Democrats support terror when it's been Republican leaders such as Reagan who have sold arms and ammo to anyone who asks.

Well... we could all start by noticing that flag waving is only a shallow and symbolic action which requires very little effort... sending them care packages is nice... but if we really cared about them we would pay more attention to the politics that rule their lives every day and the politicians that determine their fate.

Talk is cheap and we can say we support them all we want. But that support must be evidenced by our soldiers, first when they go to Iraq. They must be provided with the best, most up-to-date equipment and protection and technology.
We must be sure they have hassel-free benefits as soon as they get home. They should be rewarded for fighting a war that most Americans don't want.

I would start by wanting the USA to win.
Something that never occurred to the Left.
care packages to troops are cool we send 1 a month to random selected solider
Flag waving is important to the troops and not as silly as you make it out to be
I never thought being Patriotic was support for troops, but support for our very way of life the troops are protecting
Nothing Grand comes to mind, besides wanting to WIN
It is the little things that add up
