I believe it's Mohammad. I'm not sure why you'd want your child to have the most common name in the world tho.

I don't know for sure, but I would guess Jesus and Mohammed (the latter with various spellings). So name your child Jesus Mohammed. Not only would it go over well on a passport when passing through Homeland Security, in the long run it'll confuse everyone, especially the child.

Wikipedia. It breaks them down by countries, quite interesting question but why would you choose a "common" name as opposed to a "unique" one?

Chang is the most common in china, therefore it is the largest in number because there are like a billion chinese.
