well since you indicated that you "im really suck in english" then I would choose the importance of being literate.

being literate is not only about being well read, but also well spoken. Language and the knowledge of one's culture allow you to express yourself in a way that allows you to make sure
your message and your drive and zeal are taken seriously.

I cannot tell your nationality from your name, but if you not an english speaking american by birth, think of those in your native country that have risen to be leaders not by force, but by their ablitiy to have other follow them. Think of black history in the united states. Imagine Martin Luther King, or any of the men and women who stood up for their race , and would approach the podium and say "im really suck in english" no, you would hear the clear tones of well measured intelligent speech that would reference the bible and their religious history, that would draw analogy between slavery and non existance. that put people to shame for the cruel behaviour, but also lift everyone up by the future thats possible. So if you have to make your statement, let it

"I may not be fluent in English, but by working at it and listening to those that are, I will better myself in the long run".

I agree, do number 2. For a few reasons, one there is TONS of info out there about how literacy effects people and two it is something everyone can understand. From the middle ages when only priests could read to now where in many developing countries the poor do not have access to education and therefore do not learn to read.
As far a writing the speech, find 3 facts that catch your eye. Such as see if you can find stats on the difference of money earned in a life time between some one who can read and some one who can't and expand on those stats. Then all you have to do is write an intro (briefly touching on what you will talk about) and a ending tying it all together. 2-TALK ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF LITERACY IN PEOPLE LIVES
This would be a great speech...u can put in some details about yourself and share how literacy has helped you progress through school....literacy is needed from the president, to doctors, and teachers need literacy most of all to teach us (the students) how to read and write and speak properly so literacy is a worldwide essential subject...

I like the importance of literacy in peoples lives, I do speech writing and motivational speaking and this is one of my favorite topics! I have a sixth grade education and I went back and got my GED , I hit it off with the folks in the adult literacy program and now I do alot of speaking for them! I will look up a couple of websites and get them to you.
