OK, here it is. I own a 1998 Ford Explorer with 95,000 miles. Recently it started bucking and jerking upon acceleration around 45-65 mph. I checked the MAF and cleaned it using the contact cleaner method, that was not it as a lot of people have suggested. I checked all the vacuum hoses wires harnesses etc. What can this problem be?

Clogged EGR valve is a common ford problem - try cleaning it. In the worst case scenario, you are looking at slipping trans forward clutches which spells an overhaul for about $2,000.

it can be a misguided heater administration or an air lock. you will get an air lock in the adventure that your rad water is going down too low. Then the water is replaced through air. to analyze once you've an air lock, commence your engine and enable it tick overwith the cap on the rad or boom bottle taken off.enable the engine run till the temperature gauge begins to move. this can an increasing form of make the effort because of the reality that with the cap off your water is totally not pressurised. because the temperature receives to its classic spot on the gauge, Rev the engine and observe if the water degree has dropped. If it has intense it up and rev the engine again except the water degree is totally not dropping. change off engine , replace cap and observe no matter if that's ok for heat. This attitude will bleed any air out of the heating gadget.

Is the check engine light on? If it is get it scanned and check the codes. If not it could be a few things, is the air filter new? When was the last time you did a tuneup? Spark plugs and try fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank.

First let us know what engine you have. If it is a v6 you could be looking at leaky intake gaskets. Explorers are known for having this problem. The bad gaskets will cause the problem you are having.

Replace fuel filter. It may be starved for fuel if filter is plugged. Oxygen sensor is another possibility. I think there are 4 of them. I have the same car (145,000 mi) and just had to replace one.
