The absolute all time best trade in NFL history has to be Green Bay getting Brett Favre from Atlanta and out of Jerry Glanville's doghouse for a 1st round pick. That was a steal and Ron Wolf Packer GM at the time said, "We knew when we made that deal, we were going to either sink or swim with him (Favre)"

The 2nd best trade has to be San Francisco getting QB Steve Young from Tampa Bay for a 2nd and 4th round pick. Young lead the 49ers to 4 NFC Championship games and a win in Superbowl
29 in which he was also MVP.

Other ones that deserve mention was Detroit in 1950 getting Bobby Lane from the NY Bulldogs for End Bobby Mann. Layne led Detroit to 3 NFL Titles plus passed for like 25,000 yards and then in 1959 Green Bay trading for T Henry Jordan for a 4th round pick. Jordan was a fixture in the Packer glory years, played in 4 Pro Bowls, 7 Title games and SuperBowl 1 and 2...another steal!

I hope this info helps!

Draft Day Trade Sending John Elway From The Baltimore Colts To The Denver Broncos Where He Would Lead Them To Back To Back Superbowl Wins Before He Would Retire As One Of The Greatest Players Ever... I Still Remember The Drive Against Green Bay To Get Extra Yards And Seal The Game.

The most famous and best trade will always be the Falcons trading away Brett Favre to the Packers. Ron Wolf said the first thing he had to do was get the Packers a QB. He made the trade and the rest is history.

Chargers trading all those picks and a pro bowler for ryan leaf, LOL

but in all seriousness how about the Rams getting Marshall Faulk, and indi using their draft pick to get Edrin James, thats pretty good

In second comes the Favre trade
In third comes the trade where Redskins got John Riggans from Jets

The Dallas-Herschel Walker trade is up there.

One that gets forgotten is recent. Champ Bailey and a 2nd rounder pick for Clinton Portis.

Portis has been decent but not great. Champ has been incredible, arguably the best at his position, potential HOF
and they got a second round pick which ended up being 1000 yard back Tatum Bell.

I think the trade for Walker will always hold that honor.
As to the mention of Elway, sorry but that doesn't/shouldn't count because he wasn't going to play for the Colts. Yeah they would have had the "rights" to him for a year but he was going to go into baseball instead. Shouldn't consider it one sided when at least the Colts got SOMETHING out of it. No matter how little it was, they would have had nothing the other way.

Most one-sided

Herschel Walker for 3 #1's, 3 #2's and a host of assorted players

Eli Manning for Philip Rivers, Shaun Merriman, and the wasted pick on the kicker. (doesnt matter if Kaeding is any good, taking a kicker in the 3rd round is a waste of a pick)

Bills getting a 1st round pick from Peerless Price (selected Willis McGahee)

Eagles getting a 2nd round pick from Miami for AJ Feeley. Two seasons later, and Feeley is cut by two teams, and ends up back in Philly.

Cheers!

If this were an NBA question, I'd answer: Anyone who made a trade with the Golden State Warriors--they've sent away sooo much talent.
But, since you're talking about the NFL, I've got yo go with the trade by the Anaheim Rams of Eric Dickerson to the Indianapolis Colts for the birth-rights of all the Irsay's grandchildren, as well as all the future draft rights until the turning of the Millennium..... (all of this this is, of course, not a verifiable fact, it just seemed like that much was exchanged in the deal).
