It was very late, women had been lobbying for the right to vote for decades. The fifteenth amendment ratified in 1870 gave former slaves the right to vote. Women had to fight, march, and wear bloomers before they were allowed to vote. For a land of freedom it took America a very long time to actually free everyone, but if you listen to current complaints you would think we were terribly restrictive here.

No.Except for a few feminists,women didn't bother with politics until then.
They still belong in the kitchen.Cookin' and a cleanin'.
