Just an idle question:

I'm 37wks pregnant and so ready for it to be over.. well not just now exactly (since i'm sitting here at work) but soon enough.

Everyone i know is telling me i am not going to last the next three weeks and will be in labour alot sooner. My work colleagues, my fiance, my family and friends etc are all convinced. I, on the other hand don't think i'm that lucky! lol.

I know its no indication whatsoever, and that baby will come when baby is ready, but i was wondering if the people around you have been right about baby coming early/on time/late or whatever the case may be?

When I was 3 months pregnant, my entire family sat around giving our predictions for the date and time the baby would be born. There was a list of about 20 predictions. Well after I had the baby my mom found the list and showed it to me. It turns out, I was the only one to guess the date correctly, and I also guessed the time within a 1/2 hour!

Whether that was sheer luck or some kind of sixth sense, I have no idea. PS my baby was 8 days late.

So far it hasn't worked with me. I am 38 weeks along and everyone keeps saying the same thing about me.
I went to my ob today, i'm not even dilated or effaced.. I don't think anyone can truly predict when you are going to have it. I think if we kick back and relax a little and just let the due date come that they might come sooner..
I'm with you though, I can't wait for it to be over and for her to be in my arms also! Good luck!

My first baby was due on July 13th. My mother told me she thought he would wait to be born until her birthday on the 24th. Wouldn't you know she was right? My mother always gets the last word...

Really, though, no one has a real idea of when the baby will come. It's all up to Mother Nature. There are happy coincidences, though!

Congratulations and good luck:)

Nope, no one was right - just my daughter ;o). Even my OB thought that i would deliver 1 -2 weeks early & then we scheduled an induction when she was 9 days late - at that point my daughter decided not to wait & was born on the morning the induction was supposed to happen.

Oh boy, I was in early labor starting at 36 weeks, so everyone expected me to deliver within a few days. My baby was born one day before her due date. Everyone was wrong cept hubby.

Everyone said I wouldn't last until my due date with both my kids--they were right--with both of them I went into labor 2 weeks early and they were 9 and 10 pounds--imagine if I had gone to term!! I knew it was soon too--you can tell--go with your gut.

i gave birth to a 10 pound 7 ounce little boy 9 days before his due date. at 7 months i was huge. people thought i was pregnant with twins and that i would go into labor at any moment. they were wrong. i also lost all of my baby weight when he was born and i was anemic. i guess eating almost constantly and taking prenatals was only enough to give the baby what he needed.
