Right, most of the above. And 'Vatican' I'll see that ( I have, several times ) and 'raise it'. ;-)

In 1964 I visited New York for the first time ( from England ) and the day after I arrived I was whisked off to the World's Fair. I saw an amazing amount of stuff, a lot of it for the first time, my first automatic electric door, for example, stunning for a young lad. However the item that held me spellbound for at least 30 minutes was the MichelAngelo Pieta, the same one that sits normally in St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican. It had been lent for the duration of the fair.

Ever since then I cannot go to Rome without making a visit to see this unworldly masterpiece. Anyone who hasn't seen it, along with the Mona Lisa, this is one thing that everyone should see at least once in a lifetime.

Sorry...........end of rant........but thanks for asking the question, and giving me an excuse to share that.

The Pieta , I'm afraid I cant expand the answer more than this .
Many art works of Christs suffering and being taken from the cross are called The Deposition this might be extended to Michelangelo's work but it known As the Pieta Madonna

Its called a "pieta".

It can also be for paintings as well (see link 1 to Bellini's Pieta).

The most famous sculpture is Michelangelo's Pieta in St. Peters, Rome (see link 2)
