Depends on how you define 'best':

The best reptile I've ever had was American alligator, but then it's the only reptile I've ever eaten.

I've heard that snake is pretty tasty, and green iguana is very popular in many places. Lean and flavourful.

Turtle is also supposed to be very good. I actually have a field guide (written back in the 1930s) that rates various American turtle species by their eating potential.

The giant island tortoises could be taken into the hulls of ships on long Pacific voyages, and due to their low metabolic rates survive for long periods of time even without food or water. Regardless of how they tasted, this was probably the 'best' reptile for that purpose. Not so good for the ecology of their home islands though, nor for the poor tortoises themselves.

As far as pet reptiles go, species like the leopard gecko and the fat-tailed gecko are supposed to make the best pets, but I preferred my old, mean tempered, giant, bite-anything-that-came-close-to-him Tokay gecko to any other species I've kept. He had some personality.

Well, when I re-tile I like to use larger tile than before. So for example if I originally had 12" tile I would move to a 16" tile.
