A general rule of thumb that you can go by is a normal baby will need between 2 - 2 1/2 ounces of formula per pound of body weight each day, up until the baby weighs 15 pounds. Of course, all babies are different and this is just general guideline. So, 24 - 32 1/2 ounces of formula per day would be right for a baby who weighs 12 - 13 pounds.

My daughter was born on 12/25/06 she currently weighs 13lbs 2oz and she eats 6 oz just about every 4 hrs or so. She usually fusses a little more in the evening and may go only 3 hrs but she sleeps all night approx. 9 hrs. I increased her feedings from 1/2 oz to an 1oz every other week until she was at 6 oz assuming she finished all of the formula in the bottle at all of her feeds.

My son drank everywhere from 3-4oz each 3 hours till he grew to become into approximately 6 weeks old. After he hit that 6 week mark he began eating an analogous quantity purely each 4 hours. each little one is distinctive. as long as you're blending the formulation precisely because of fact the instructions say and you're actually not shoving a bottle in his mouth every time he cries, then you definately're doing merely high-quality. Your MIL is stupid. definite, this is okay to furnish infants some water or juice to "replace" a meal, yet no longer at 5 weeks of age. My son is 6 months old and that i'm merely now beginning as much as try this. regrettably, there's no longer plenty you're able to do approximately her putting her nostril the place it does not belong, yet while she would be able to't understand your needs and not placed your new child in possibility, then she should not be allowed to be left on my own with him.

Feed him until he will not eat anymore. Probably anywhere from 3-6 oz.

With young infants it's usually best to stick with a 4oz bottle per feeding. If he wants more he'll let you know and if he's full he'll stop eating.
