Are you asking what the difference is between biology and genetics? If so, biology is the study of life, which ranges from everything from bacteria to human beings. Genetics is a branch of biology because all life contain genetic material for passing on genes to offspring. Genetics is the study of genetic material in living things, usually referring to DNA or RNA.

Do you mean the difference between a biological and a genetic problem? Heres what a teacher of mine told me. Biology is what you are, genetics is what you're potential is (or was). If your genetics said you should be 6'5, but you were malnourished or ill as a child, and ended up 5'5, then your genetic height (which is what will be passed on to a child) is 6'5 and your actual, or biological, height is 5'5. Genetics are like a blueprint for how your body will grow and work, and biology is the implementation of that plan.

Biology is the field of study that has to do with living things. As you might imagine, that's a HUGE field, including a large variety of specializations such as biochemistry, zoology, agriculture, ecology, taxonomy, and... genetics.

Genetics is the study of genes, their structure, and function. It can cover anything from analysis of DNA itself to studying family trees to find underlying inherited characteristics.

So all of genetics is part of biology, but biology includes a LOT more than that! Hope that helps!
