I had a miscarriage on march 7 but I took a pregnancy test on march 24 because I had sex with my boyfriend on march 21 with no birth control. The test came out positive but I don't know if it is because of the miscarriage or because I'm pregnant, help!

hon it takes about a month for the HCG hormones to go back down. it has only been 2 weeks. so wait three weeks and and take another one if it comes up positive too then go see your OBGYN.

The positive test is probably from the pregnancy you lost. More than anything else, if you had gotten pregnant during your encounter on March 21, March 24 would be way too early for a test to show positive.

(To address your first question... I don't know if there's a certain amount of time that hCG stays in your system after a miscarriage. I know that after my miscarriage, it took three weeks for the hCG to show zero.)

In this case you need to see your doctor, if you did after you had the miscarriage then you may have gotten pregnant again, however from the sounds of it, you did not miscarry at all or you had twins and lost only one sack!
This is very possible.

Call your doctors office right away and make an appt to find out what is really going on, they can do a sonogram and see if there is a baby in there or not.

I had a miscarriage on 1/7/07 and took a HPT on 1/13 and it came back negative, also went to the doctors on the 16th to be sure...if anything is left in there your body will react and you could get an infection, causing infertility. So highly suggest seeing your doctor asap!

The HCG hormone can stay in a woman's blood at low levels for up to 4 to 6 weeks after a miscarriage.

It's because of the miscarriage. a pregnancy test can't pick up the hormone that early in a new pregnancy. However you can show positive from a miscarriage for up to 8 weeks.

It can take 4-6 weeks. Have you had your period back? Usually when you get your period you know your numbers are at 0. HOWEVER you could of gotten pregnant still, but it wouldn't show up positive 3 days later..... you have to wait at least 2 weeks!

How far along were you on the miscarriage because every day that you are pregnant in the beginning your HCG level doubles?

Depends how far along you were. You need to wait at least one full cycle before trying again. I would say that it's leftover hormones.
