what kind of laptops do you guys have? I was thinking maybe apple because it might get less viruses, except i don't know how true that is. I wanted to get a sony because I think they look good (I know...that's a bad reason, but..), my dad wants to get me an hp because he thinks it's the best price and comes with the most for the price...k thanks guys

I have an ASUS A6JC. ASUS is known for their high end motherboard and other hardware components, so I would consider them brand name, such as Sony, etc. It was featured as one of the Top 5 all purpose laptops about a year ago when I bought it for around $1500 and I actually bought an upscale version of what was on their list. Definitely get an hp pavillion notebook , preferably the dv6000 series. Apple and sony are too pricy, and plus hp is very customizable so you get what you need and not get charged extra. I would adivse getting windows vista, especially if you are interested in the cool specs.

hp all the way! ALL hp laptops come standard with 32 bit sound and a HD screen! and under 1k!! email me for more info concerning hp products! had my desktop for 8 yrs! runs really great! it also includes a dual core GRAPHICS chipset (not processor) by intel!

Dell Inspiron 1501 from Dell.com. They can be built to your specification and for less than $1000 you can get all sorts of extras added. They are a good all round computer for any kind of task. Both my daughter and I have one and they are excellent.

apple, they are GREAT and i haven't had a virus on it ever and i've had it a while it also is good for other stuff too and the price is expensive but worth it totally!!

depends on how much you're willing to spend. Either way though- shoot for Alienware. It's THE BEST computer. PERIOD
