I think you are talking about the "Watch Now" feature Netflix now has....

we have a cable modem and it only takes a minute or two for the movie to start......

that depends on the size of the movie and the download speed you get from your ISP, some movies can be up to 4.5 gig.

to download one gig can take a few hours so expect quiet a long period of time for a full size movie, and if your using the computer thar can add extra time... nothing is simple

depends on your connection speed because movie files tend to be about 3.0 gigabytes to 9.0 gigabytes in size. if you are on dial up forget about it. on dialup it will take about 3-4 days to download a 100 megabyte file one tenth of a gigabyte. and Netfix doesn't run a download service last I heard the only website to even attempt that was http://www.youtube.com now owned by http://www.google.com Inc. Netflix mails you the disk via the U.S.P.S.(R) I think or at least the last time i was at their website they did.
