can any one walk me tho this how to play online i have everything i have the cable going from the modem to the back of my game everything work until i put my online start up disk 3.0 in and when i try to test the connection it all ways faile can i get any help and i have dsl cable modem
p.s and i have the 3.0 start up disk

Um what version is it? If its version 50000 i know how to since i looked on PlayStation.com
Connecting to a DSL or Cable Modem
To connect the network adapter (Ethernet/modem) (for PlayStation®2) directly to a DSL or cable modem:
Install the network adapter in the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment. For instructions, see Installing the Network Adapter.
Remove the sticker covering the network connector on the network adapter and plug an Ethernet network cable (100Base-TX or 10Base-T) in the connector labeled "NETWORK".
Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the DSL or cable modem.
Plug the AC power cord for the PlayStation®2 into a working electrical outlet.
Turn on the system and load the Network Adaptor Start-up Disc came with the network adaptor.
Register the network adaptor.
Create a network configuration.
NOTE: The DSL or cable modem must provide a RJ-45 Ethernet network connector. Modems that only provide USB connectors cannot be directly connected to the PlayStation®2 system.
