Ideas for school website?

I'm designing a student page for our school, but I don't know what I want it to look like. Our mascot's a pirate. Any ideas?

I would recommend surfing the net and looking at other schools sites! We had an assignment in my web design class to find 5 HS websites and critique them. I pretty much used google to find them...from there you could probably e-mail the person in charge of their website for tips on how to do some of the things they did!
