The reason why your answer received thumbs down is because you were not actually answering the question. You were just stating your opinion; and, yes, you did sound like you were being a little rude. It's hard to explain why, but it wasn't very nice.

I've given the same kind of "answer". don't feel bad. I gave an excellent answer for a question and got a thumbs down. people will do it if they disagree, don't like what you ssaid, or sometimes, it can happen on accident. I once acidentally clicked a thumbs down when I meant to click thumbs up. But by then i couldn't take it back.

Personally, I think there was nothing wrong with what you said.

I know what you mean. I can't figure out why people do that to a normal answer. By the way there was nothing wrong with what you said. I used to get insulted over that, I am getting over it.
Guess people have nothing to do tonight, when I first looked at your answer there were 4 thumbs down now there was 8. Give me a break You Know? I gave you a thumbs up.
I totally understood what you meant.

You didn't answer the question. If you just want to view what other people say that's fine, just add the question to your watch list. Or, you can star the question to let the asker know that you found their question interesting. But you got thumbs down because you didn't give an answer to what she was asking.

Don't take it personally, thumbs down is not necessarily a bad thing. I think the question was more or less addressed to adults and not teens. Your intentions are good so keep up the good work. Have a great day!!

First of all, you are way to paranoid. Second, I think the reason you got thumbs down is because it wasn't an actual answer. She wanted to know of a lesson you got as a teen and you didn't give her an answer.

Don't be offended, happens to me all the time! I think people just thought your answer was more of a comment, and they were looking for a solution to the question.
