it depends on the cause of the darkness... if its capillary (the color is more red or purple)some of my clients do well with vit k eye creams at least %5.
if its pigmentation(brownish,or dirty looking) try eye creams with any of the following, glycol acid, lactic acid, vit a, kojic acid . remember it takes a long time to see visible difference, make up will also help you can use a yellow base concealer or a color one shade lighter then your foundation.. drinking water and sleeping helps as well,

There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

Try cucumber slices on your eyes for about 15 minutes at a time. You can do this every day if need be until the dark circles are gone.

The best thing I've found to date:

Neutrogena
3-in-1 concealer for eyes

It's a little on the pricey side but it's a pretty big tube that should last quite awhile!

It's part concealer, part eye cream, and part sunscreen!

Be sure to pat it in! Do not rub--you have to be very careful not to tug on this delicate skin!!!!!

Concealer works for me. It's best to go get some at Sally Beauty Suplly. Buy the yellow one. Doesn't matter what your skin tone is. The yellow in it tones down the purple, because it's the complimentary (opposite) colour of yellow. Buy green to tone down those nasty red pimples.

Vitamin E works good, or also potato or cucumber slices, both work, you can get the 1st one at your local drug store most of the time.

Use cover-up! I did that when I went out to eat with my best-friend! It worked!

You could try putting cucumbers on them. Also, they make creams for that.
