Could not agree more. Unfortunately it's going the other way thanks to the government, who are relaxing the already lax rules, to allow bookmakers now to advertise on TV.
The debt consolidation people are the worst; closely followed by June Whitfield, Carol Vorderman and others persuading vulnerable people to invest money without proper advice.

I don't mind ads as I usually do something during the break. It gets annoying when ads start when the programme's only been on for four minutes, or when the ads break lasts 20 minutes. But unfortunately I'd rather have that than pay £130 quid for a TV license that allows me to watch a bunch of BBC programmes (I only watch Casualty anyway so why do I have to pay it)?

I stopped watching telly over a year ago and although it took a little while to get used to my life is so much more productive these days. When i do catch a bit of television (say at the gym) i notice that the programmes are just as bad as the adverts... These programmes and adverts are very cleverly constructed make no mistake, it's brainwashing pure and simple (especially the news)... Just get rid of your television, it's the only way to be sure. Good luck.

I'm with Ali 100%. Have to record most on my DVD recorder anyway, and it's great whizzing through the adds when necessary. Cuts the Hour programmes down to 3/4, more time for Spider Solitaire!

My theory on this is............as long as we have the big corporate giants doing business, we're gonna always have tv ads, no matter how manipulative they may be. I really don't know if there are any organizations that do what you want them to do. Besides, it probably would be a violation of free speech, anyway.

True, but on the other hand, it's good to look back on some classic tv commercials that made us laugh &/or smile.
Every once in while, they create gems. I think the Geico cavemen will endure in memory years from now...

Thats how shows make money, they will never get rid of that. OR Get a digital recorder, record your shows, then fast forward through the commercials.

It's never enough. You don't pay for the actual shows themselves, so the station can show you whatever they want. If u don't like commercials, don't watch tv, cuz that' how u pay ofr entertainment.

Well, if you don't like a monthly bill for watching TV, get used to the commercials.

All ads are regulated on T-V, both for content & time span.
