I am asking this question because I believe that the young players like Dwyane Wade and LeBron James could be as good or better. Also there's Kevin Durant and Greg Oden and Acie Law IV even though they're only in college those three will be awesome going pro.

If anyone had a chance, it would be K. Bryant. He's not there yet. If he continues his pace and wins at least two more championship, he might be on the same pedistal.

Unfortunately, he's not well liked by players around the league, including his teammates. Therefore, I think he has an uphill battle the rest of his career. This could work for him though as I think he plays best when people criticizes him. He doesn't have the same ability as MJ did as far as making players around him better. MJ made little Steve Kerr, who doesn't even know how to dribble, the best 3 point shooter in NBA history. (All he had to do was stand there and wait for MJ to kick the ball to him).

During this streak of 4 games of 50+ point, Bryant went out trying to score 100 points in each and every one of those games. He also did this last season when he went on a tear and scored 40+ for several games. I think that if MJ went out with the same mentality, he could have easily done something comparable. If you compare Bryant's best season when he averaged 35 ppg with MJ's when he scored 37 ppg, not only will you see that Jordan is better in just about every category. You'll also notice the major difference is that MJ also averaged nearly 3 spg and 1.5 bpg. That's Ben Wallace-like defense; pretty astonishing considering he played at such a high level on the offense end. This is reflective at each and every stage of their careers. Championship rings, MVPs, and better teammates asside, there's really no comparison.

I'll assume you mean "as good or better than" referring to as an all-around player. In that case yes. The probability of someone being as dominant and successful as MJ someday is quite high. So many kids like the ones u named, durant, oden, and acie law are so athletic, so talented, and had the benefit of learning from awesome stars before them.

Now if you mean is there someone who's going to be like MJ in terms of basketball influence and becoming the sole face of the NBA, then no way in hell. The ballers before Jordan are already sketched in history as the grand daddy of all types of players (i.e. clutch: Jerry west, Scoring: Wilt and Kareem, Passing: Steve Nash, dunking: Dr. J .... the list goes on). Then you get to MJ who single-handedly made the NBA the second most publicized and popular sport in the world. He became the NBA, so to speak. You couldn't think of the NBA without thinking of Jordan. However, that was in a time when there was no one else close to his skill as a guard.

Today, there is no such disparity in skill. Just about everyone in the league is very athletic and very capable of being a star on their team. This makes the question difficult to answer since the stars you speak of play in an entirely different era and type of basketball.

So in regard to overall effect on the league, no, no one will be as good as Jordan. It's also never going to be a unanimous vote when it comes to comparing players to Jordan. Most people will always think of Jordan as the best ever, because he was the first to do so many things. So while there will be players with more basketball capability than MJ, there will never be another player overshadowing him.

I dont know if youve heard of this man, his name is LeBron James. Hes pretty good.

This one other guy that nobody knows about, his name is Dwayne Wade, hes also good. He gets like 30 points a game, led his team to an NBA title. Hes alright I guess.

This one freshman from the University of Texas, his name is Kevin Durant, hes also pretty good. Hes gets like 30-40 points a game. Carried his team into the Tournament.

Oh yeah, this one center from Ohio State named Greg Oden. Hes only 7 feet tall and 280 pounds, and he is projected to be one of the best centers of all time. Basically lead his team to the Final Four.

These guys seem pretty good. Maybe you should check them out.

Eventually someone will be "better" than Jordan stats wise.....though none of the names you mentioned are close to his level.

The problem with great players and the players before and after them, is that as all games evolve, the technology gets better, rules change...and therefore the game changes.

Would Tiger Woods be as good playing back with the golf clubs Jack Nicklaus used when he started? Would Wayne Gretzky be as dominante in the NHL if he played when Gordie Howe played? There are so many variables to take into account that this question can never be truly answered.

Jordan will be remembered as the best of his era and unfortunately his stats will be broken one of these days.

Lebron James has a chance. But I don't think anyone else comes close.

Penny Hardaway was a flop
Grant Hill was a flop
Tmac was a flop
Carter was a flop
Kobe was a flop

None of those players came close to winning MVP, and most have played almost 10 years or more.

Lebron came second in MVP voting in only his 3rd season. Know what I mean?
