I'm looking for a small, quaint town where the whole community pulls together and is almost like a family. Can be anywhere in the USA and is open to having a new family there. I am a young mother who lives with my 14 year old daughter. We are looking to get away from the busy New York City, and want to go into a small town. We promise we will be great neighbors!

I have lived in my fair share of places and currently live in Asheville, NC. We have roughly 400,000 metro and it is a small town with the big city atmosphere. Charlotte is 3 hours east. We have all the luxuries of a big city, clubs, airport, etc without the crime and pollution. Everyone here is a big hippie so there is no litter, etc when you walk down the street. Most importantly, the climate is absolutely perfect. We are in the mountains and most people, including myself, don't even have air conditioning because it never gets too hot or humid. Winters are really mild, too. No one in Asheville is from Asheville so while it is in the south, we aren't really the south.
The best place to go to answer your question to your personal tastes would be http://www.findyourspot.com/ That is where I found my own paradise to live in. Good luck.

Ohio is full of small quaint towns. I live in Northwest Ohio. There are tiny schools around here but most of the towns around here are really neat because neighbors really know each other and look out for one another. There are many activities going on in the community and through the school systems.

Red wing Minnesota , it is small ,very quaint, and senic as it is right on the river with beautiful bluffs all around you, the people are very warm and welcoming, you are close enough to the twin cities to take in all the events you wish to see,and red wing itself has some good festivals in the summer .

Estes Park, Colorado.
It's a small tourist town in the Rocky Mountains, right at the entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park. I am recently divorced and moved here to just get away from everything. Just about everyone here is a transplant that just left an old life to start a new one. I get up every morning and drink my coffee while I am watching the Elk, Mule Deer, Wolves, Eagles, Mountain Lions, and BEAUTIFUL mountains; that is how I drink my morning coffee. The area was picked by Yahoo news as the best place in North America to live.
email me and I can tell you everything you want to know.

The first town that comes to mind is Bennington, VT--I went there once to look at a college. Waaaay too quiet for my taste. But definitely in the small-quaint-cute-hometown category.

Van wert, ohio. that is where I was born and raised. The only thing about it is jobs are not high paying. There are near by cities that you can commute to that pay better. Like Ft. Wayne,Indiana or Lima,Ohio. Van Wert is nice, small and everyone is friendly. If you have any other Questions e-mail me.

GET AN ATLAS AND CHECK POPULATIONS LISTED FOR U.S. TOWNS,CITIES ETC. ONCE YOU MAKE A LIST THEN LOOK THEM UP ON THE INTERNET SEARCH. MAKE SURE TO CONSIDER THE YEAR-ROUND WEATHER TOO AND FOOD, WATER AVAILABILITY ETC.ALASKA HAS SOME SOME COMMUNITIES IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE BUT IF YOU BLINK THE WARM MONTHS ARE GONE . TAKE TIME AND REALLY LOOK AND SEARCH THE NET.
