my friend has just confused the hell out of me. i washed my hair with her aid today (hurt me arm quite badly..hence needed help) and she said "oooo, not long now ur hairs falling out" when i asked her what she meant she said it was a common sign that i would be giving birth in a short while (i.e a COUPLE of weeks) i'm 34 weeks pregnant not n she scared me 2 bits!!! i have a midwife appointment again tomorrow but i was just wondering if this was a true fact or just an old wives tale?
its not like a few strands here n there, it was actual clumps!!! carrys on this way i think i'll b bald by the time my baby arrives!!!
34 weeks, 20 yrs old, had a fair load of stress during my pregnancy, not changed shampoo or condiditioner since i became pregnant n not tried any new products on my hair.

baby's moving like its going out of fashion!! i been thinking all day maybe i've eaten something different, but nope, went to my hair dressers to ask if they put anything new on it, but she told me she didn't use anything on me just incase, and she'd noticed i was losing alot too!
just...rather attached to my hair! (well, not that well or it wuldn't b falling out) wouldn't mind if it was the hair i seem to have aquired on my belly, i think im in close compertition with many men at the moment.

Severe hair problems may cause anguish.Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Here a few simple home remedies which can be tried at home to control hair fall. To treat hair loss apply a little lemon juice with some black tea. Massage well and shampoo.Rub oil into the scalp. Wring out a towel in hot water and wrap it on the head. Keep it on for 15 minutes. I have NOT heard of your hair falling out being a sign of pregnant. HOWEVER after having a baby, yes you will lose your hair. I lost mine in clumps for 6-7 months after. It's hormonal changes that causes it. But I was not bald, and for all the hair I was losing, you couldn't even notice. It was gross though, clogging the drain everytime I washed it.

Don't worry! I'm sure it is just stupid pregnancy hormones! They make everything in your body do silly things!

I've never heard of this! It is common for lots of hair to come out AFTER you have had the baby, but not before! Baby is still moving right?

I 'moulted' for ages after having my two!

Good luck with your baby hopefully coming between 38 and 40 weeks! You don't want to go overdue!

It is called alopecia and it happened to me after my son was born. don't get worried it doesn't happen to everyone. It did happen to me and I lost my hair in about 4 different places all about the size of a ping pong ball. My scalp was as smooth as a babies bottom where these patches had fallen out. It lasted about 4- 5 months and then grew back. since then if I suffered alot of stress it happens again.

perfectly normal. all women are different in their pregnancies. but i had that happen to me, too. i had clumps fall out in the beginning. then my hair got super long and a little thicker in the middle. and at the end of my pregnancy it fell out again but just a few strands here and there. now that i gave birth my hair is falling out still but it's growing faster. it's just ur hormones. don't worry. it'll be ok later.

I've never heard of a wives tale about your hair falling out when getting close to delivering. I've researched a lot of wives tales about pregnancy also!

Your hair falls out normally when you wash it. I wouldn't worry about it, it sounds like an old wives tale.

It's very common to loose hair post-partum.. it's not a sign of labor though.

You won't be bald.
