I don't know this answer, so please help me to figure this out.

y= 1+2x

y is the total number of pennies, x is the number of days minus one.

Day 1 = 1 penny saved
Day 2 = 1 penny + 3 pennies saved = 4 pennies total
Day 3 = 4 pennies + 5 pennies saved = 9 pennies total
Day 4 = 9 pennies + 7 pennies saved = 16 pennies total


Formula to use is shown below, followed by examples:
Day n = n + n(n-1)

Day 1 = 1 + 1*0 = 1
Day 2 = 2 + 2*1 = 4
Day 3 = 3 + 3*2 = 9
Day 4 = 4 + 4*3 = 16

You would have only 3 pennies.
the first day is only 1 and ten you saved twice that amount the day after which is 2 pennies so altogether you know have 3 pennies
