For me there would be no choice. The Lexus dealer where I live is filled with a bunch of completely arrogant dickheads. I would rather buy a Ford, than deal with these guys. I've shopped at many upscale dealerships and I have never spoken to such ill-informed yet condescending people. If this is how they behave before you give them money, I can only imagine what they do once they have put your money in the bank.

I've given you some links to reviews on Edmunds.com which I always think is pretty interesting. It should be noted that they gave the MDX an Editor's Choice Award for best in its price range.

I think the main issue here, which has already been mentioned, is that the 2007 MDX is a brand new body shape and has some incredible new toys in it. The MDX is simply a superior vehicle, and on top of that the RX is going to be replaced with a new model within the next year. So if you buy an RX right now, it will instantly look dated (or at least when the 2008 model arrives it will). So even though depreciation is excellent on both vehicles clearly the tail end of a discontinued body style is never going to sell as well.

So as much as I hate to endorse Lexus, if you compare a 2008 MDX to a 2008 RX it would be an interesting comparison. Both are going to incredible vehicles. You probably can't go wrong with either one. At that point it comes down to which you prefer to drive, who gives the better dealer service, and convenience of your local dealer. I prefer to buy a car with easy access to a dealer, and a dealer that will treat me the right way.

I've owned an Acura TL from new for about 18 months. I've found the service to be outstanding, and the vehicle just great. Consumer reports raves about it. So I certainly am very impressed with Acura. But I'm sure with the right dealer I could be impressed with Lexus too.

All that said if I were in the market for that kind of vehicle right now, I'd be driving home in an MDX.

That very much depends on what you want from a vehicle. The Acura is much more of a sporty model and will out run and out handle the Lexus. It will also sit seven people (although the third row may only be big enough for kids). The Lexus will only seat five. The RX is also an older design now while the MDX is brand new. The RX has the advantage when it comes to a softer and more comfortable ride. Also, it has the advantage of a hybrid option. So it depends what you want. I would take the MDX as it is sportier, has a more advanced AWD system (power can be adjusted to each individual rear wheel, not just between the front and rear wheels like on the RX), seats more people, and is a newer model.

I'd take the Acura because my mom has a 2004 Acura MDX and its pretty nice. However, the most important reason is that the new Acura is completely redesigned while the Lexus isn't for 2007. The Acura is also more powerful and is more up to date than the Lexus.

Depends, are you looking for more features and better value, or more performance. The Lexus handles much better and is faster. The MDX has many more luxury features and costs about $10,000 dollars less for more value. The MDX of course doesn't have the same social status value of a Lexus. It really comes down to what you want more from a car.

MDX fits more people than the Lexus and it looks better. Also the Lexus RX is hella ugly. Only stupid people buy RX.

I have one of each. They each have their advantages. I like the RX, my wife likes the MDX. RX gets better mileage. Both ride great.
