I am still in highschool, however, writing has always been a strongpoint and a passion for me. I love it! I would like to take a creative writing class at UC Davis, (my college of choice...right now I have a 3.33 GPA) I want to hopefully write movie scripts...Is it impossible? I truly believe that I could do it...Is UC Davis a good school for it? Help me out! Please answer if you attend UC Davis.

I heard Davis has a good writing program. I used to want to be a vet. but I found that writing was more of "my thing"

Anthony Swafford of "Jarhead" fame attended UCD. I think you should look at American Studies or Film Studies (or both) as possible majors.

Writing is really graduate level work but you should look to see that there are opportunties for you to build the skills you are lacking.

Movie script writing? UC Davis is NOT the school to do it at. If you're interested in film, I have no idea why you're looking at UC Davis.

You should be looking at USC or UCLA. At least schools in the cities with film and television production. That basically means Los Angeles or New York City.

Davis is a little cow town in the middle of nowhere. Nearest major city is Sacramento.

If you can't make it into UCLA, USC, or NYU, then consider UC Irvine. It's the same level as UC Davis and has a top ranked English department, particularly in Creative Writing. Still in SoCal so you may find connections into the movie industry. Certainly easier to do it there than at UC Davis.

Davis prolly has a decent English department. However, it still doesn't change the fact that it's in the middle of nowhere, making it harder to get internships and experience in the entertainment field. If you must go there, then go there. Just understand the limitations for writing movie scripts.

There's no reason why you can't take the prereq classes and apply to vet school and then write scripts on the side. There's no requirement to have an English degree with an emphasis on creative writing to send a script in to be read. Just easier to avoid your script from being tossed in the trash bin if you've got some connections.
