How can i protect myself? I have read that even condoms are not 100% because they do not cover enough area. Has anyone had this type of experience?

Yes, my husband has them. I do not. There are meds out there to help with this, like Valtrex. They aid in protection but you stil have to use a condom. Talk to him about it. Link below is for Valtrex.
You can also avoid sex altogether during a break out and until he is completely healed.... if he doesn't have an outbreak then a condom should be fine.
My husband can usually have an idea when he will break out.. his glands start to hurt, the sure enough! Just be careful hun! Good luck to you!

Its good he was honest with you but do yourself a favor and DON'T have sex with him. There doesn't seem to be a way to completely protect yourself and herpes is forever.

Stay away from him or you're going to share these conditions one way or another. Yuk.
