First of all..let's get the big picture of what we're looking for..

The major religion in Brasil is Catholicism, Protestants and Mormonism is also a large percentage of the people.

Brazilians are Christians for the most part...but there are obviously different religions countrywide..

Christmas is a bit different as it is during the Summer rather than during Wintertime...

Families in Brasil are not bigger or smaller than families in the US...but they are MUCH tighter as a unit than Americans are..I might say though as an average..they may have 1-2 kids more on the avg than American families.

their holidays are much like ours...Halloweeen is nothing there..it is non issue...but that is because Day of the Dead and All Saints Day are much bigger...it is like our Memorial Day..they have many Catholic holidays as well..Festa Junina is great...it is in June and celebrates St. Johns Day in June.

September 7th is Independance Day in Brasil. August 12th is Father's Day there, they have a childrens day that is separate from Christmas and they get gifts on that day as well. Carnaval is Mardi gras in Brasil and it isn't just Fat Tuesday..it is like a solid week of anarchy...celbrated best in Rio, Salvador, Aracaju and Recife...

now you wouldn't normally include a small town such as Aracaju...except that they also have a mini-carnaval in January called...Pre-Caju which tends to foreshadow how Carnaval will go a month later...but tons of bands go there to do their shows..it is almost like an annual Woodstock/ Lollapalooza of brazilian bands..Easter Sunday, Good Friday and Mother's Day are about the same as anywhere else.. ahh And June 12th is Valentine's Day...

so what do they do for fun?

DANCE! SOCCER! SWIM! VOLLEYBALL! FUTEVOLEI-WHICH IS A MIX OF FOOTBALL AND VOLLEYBALL..are just a few things...

brazilians love to dance and they love to party..they love to have a good time...go see Olodum practice in Salvador..great night ..great music..and nothin gets better...you might even find yourself kissing a beautiful Brazilian woman...if your luck goes just right!!
