I don't think it should be banned, but I don't think it should be used. And I heard the same thing about the bill, but I think it's just in one particular state for now.

I think that if it was banned it would infringe on our right to free speech. As an African American woman, I don't like the word. I prefer that no one black or the other use the word. It's a word with a lot of history and negativity behind it. Did you know that the Irish used to be considered black? They were called the N word too? You can't ban a word because that would require banning someone's thoughts. Make sense? Good question!!

Are you kidding me? Nobody can create a bill to ban a word- that's impossible. Civil rights groups would have a field-day. You see- it's not the word itSELF- it's the idea of suppressing the freedom of people to use it, no matter how offensive. What people are scared of is censorship. Lemme explain. There is a famous latin phrase: "quis custodiet ipsos custodes" which basically means: "Who will guard the guards?" This means how will the leaders decide who is right and who isn't? What if they become corrupt- then what? So, while I do not agree with the N word- I hardly think it should be banned. (In fact, I think that people should grow comfortable to it and realize that it is JUST a word. If we can disconnect the hatred and the pain associated with it, we can close off another venue for people who like to incite hatred.)

Well NOT that I support using the "N" word but I don't believe it should be banned. This is just another step towards COMPLETE GOVERNMENT CONTROL. WAKE UP ALREADY!!!!! They ban this word they may as well ban all so many others. They might want to ban HONKIES, COONS, SLANT EYES, CHINKS, JIGGABOOS. I mean come on. I use these words ONLY as an example. There are so many words that the government could and can add to this list. ENOUGH already. People should just use common sense and be adults. Maybe the government may want to look at making laws on predujice. EVERYONE IS or should be EQUAL. Color is nuttin but color. END of story.

You know what? I don't like the word but I really don't see how it can be banned. That is infringing on our freedom of speech.
I don't use, don't like, and would rather no one use it, but if we let them ban it all that is going to do is give the government a free ticket to take away our other rights.

I never call people the N word but I don't believe any swears should be banned. If you want to swear go ahead and swear! I am not an advocate for it but I am an advocate for freedom of speech. If you feel it's absolutely necessary then you should be mature enough to make that judgement.

No.
Banning a word is dangerous. It's a slippery slope, you know? First one word....then another....it sets a bad precedent, and a lot of our laws are based on precedence...or something....whatever...
Besides, 50% of rap lyrics would then become illegal.
I'm thinking you just saw one of the recent episodes of South Park....
