some paint on brick facing in dinning room, need to clean it up

You need a caustic, not an acid to remove paint from brick. Dont use a solvent either such as Methylene Chloride, that will cause it to run into the brick's pores and it will look worse

Try spraying on the paint spots oven cleaner, that will cause the paint to raise up and degrade the paint. The scrape it off with a razor blade as it rises. Repeat, until the paint is removed.

There are commercial paint strippers that are not acidic. Go to a good paint store or hardware store and tell them what you're working on .

a diluted mixture of muratic acid and water with a wire brush should do the trick. follow directions on muratic acid though it is powerful stuff
