There's something that I want to know. There are several different models of video cards and two major brands (ATI and nVidia). The thing I want to know is, what do the letters after the model number mean? For example, my old graphics card is an nVidia GeForce 6800 XT. What does the XT mean? I've seen several cards with the same model number BUT the letters at the end are different. I've seen XT, GS, GTX, etc. Which are better? What is the difference and what do they mean?

Each company uses a different system of suffixes, and they use different ones for each level of card (high/mid/low range). In general (high to low):

ATI:
XTX (previously XT PE, XT, Pro)
XT
Pro
GT
"vanilla" (no suffix)
SE, HM

nVidia:
Ultra
GTX
GTS
GT
XT
GS
LE, TC

Both companies have also used "GTO" for a limited-run mid-high end card that they used to reduce chip inventory.

Usually the difference can be anywhere from amount of memory, to clock speed, to even number of pixel pipelines (in older cards). That being said, regarding nVidia, the GS will be the lowest, then the GT, then the GTX. I'm not sure where the XT falls in that lineup however, althought I think it is between GS and GT.
