Turn causes the car to drop speed, causing the need for a lower gear.

Well, that depends...if you are talking about a manual shift car, then you would usually downshift through a turn if you had been going a regular speed. If you are stopped at a light and you take off into a turn, then you would shift at the same time you would normally shift if you were going straight. Hope this helps...

most manual transmission's need to shift because when you turn a corner or go up a really steep hill of down one the motor needs to keep at a working rpm or it will die anyone who has tried to take a cormor in a high gear and just left it there you hear the motor bog down and and if it gets really low the car will jerk so shift down in a lower gear before you make your turn so you can just keep it going with out messing up your transmission

what do you mean "shift", im guessing you mean lean to the side...its because of this little thing called inertia...when something is in motion it is going to stay in motion unless acted upon by a greater force...such as the vehicle turning
