The brain controls many things, including: body temperature, growth/development, release of hormones, reflexes, cognitive functions (thinking, movement), respiration rate, heart beating...there are many other things it controls!

it controls all conscious and unconscious actions. Without a brain your cells would deteriorate because they aren't getting the oxygen needed through breathing.
