Why do people get upset on Yahoo Answers when you voice your own opinion if it's something they dont agree with, Isn't that what this is kind of for, to get and give opinions and hear a variety of answers? If i'm wrong please tell me, I'd like to hear your opinion either way.

I agree with you guys, there was this one person who got upset becasue i objected against her and she sent me a couple nasty e-mails telling me to basically keep my opinions to myself and i shouldnt be reading her questions if i didn't like them, so i just wrote her back apologising because it's nothing to get upset over.

People just have a hard time accepting different viewpoints. It's sad really. However, I believe that's what makes this website great, you can voice your agreement/disagreement w/o getting into a huge confrontation with a person like you would in person.

They should just take the answers for what they are.People are going to view things differently all the time. When I ask a question,I always get answers that I dont want, but I think to myself, maybe I'm not interpreting my problem correctly, and maybe this person can view things better and more correctly due to the fact that the outcome will not affect them. When you are asking a question on here, you always think that people are going to see things the way you do,but they sometimes dont because something in your situation or the person the question is about could have the wool pulled over your eyes, and you can only see the good while others can see the good and bad.Hope this answers your question!

I don't think you're wrong. Those who ask questions should expect to get opinions as well as research and fact based answers. When I answer a question I always try to remember to enter my sources or if its an opinion, to let them know, that is all it is. I guess I'm fortunate in that I haven't encountered that problem thus far. Most people on here seem to be on a quest for serious answers, but there are some that are just having fun. And thats ok too.

the problem my friend is the world has became so touchy- feely and politically correct. I am not PC and never will be.
now some things should not be posted here because of underage people on this site. But I give my answers as my opinion and thats how ii read answers to my questions. I dont know your age but I am in my 40's and believe me the world has changed so drastically in the past 20 years. when I was in school we didnt have Attention Deficit Syndrome. MY father called it goofing off, not paying attention in class and I got in trouble for it. Nowadays there'e a drug for it. Another thing-no one is responsible for their actions anymore.
so, we have become so insecure that we are ready to take people to task (or court) if we are offended. It all makes me sick. I am the type of guy that thinks "Gee, if it looks like s***
smells like s*** feels like s*** then I am going to go with the idea that it IS s***. I am not offended by thumbs downs or someone bad mouthing me because I am only reading words on a computer screen. I like to read a variety of answers because it is opinions I am after, If I want factual info I can look it up myself

yes, you're right, but unfortunately this place works by the rules of the outer world. If they don't agree with you, they show it. Anyway showing approval or disapproval is also a way of expressing an opinion, so even when they tell you they don't agree with yours, that's a form of stating an opinion. So it shouldn't be denied. But of course moral rules are still here and politeness is required.

I agree with you entirely ! When you get a thumbs down,
just say "Oh Well !" and move on !
I don't know what's been going on for the past couple of weeks, but it hasn't been pretty !
You are not wrong, lets just hope that alot more people feel that way !

you are right. this is supposed to be for people to give their opinions. i do not know why people get upset. if they ask a question, they should know that not everyone is going to agree with them. if it is just an answer that they seen and they do not like it, unless it is racially offensive or bad language or something of that matter they have no reason to be upset. everyone's views should be respected on here. that is my view. good luck.

They get upset when you start to be rude and inappropiate. Until then people come on here to ask questions and get advice or because they have nothing to do. Yes, people do like asking questions and get multiple answers but try to respect others and do it in a nice way.

People get upset because your opinion is not theirs. So it must be wrong. Not so everyone has an opinion and everyone should be heard If you can't take it don't dish it out. Right good question
