I am starting to feel silly each time I call in to see him, he just looks at me as if he's never seen me. I explain to him why I want this done and nothing from him, he makes me feel like i;ve wasted his time!

Hi i know im a bit late answering your questin but here goes!

I had a breast reduction 18 months ago. The first time i went to the doctors he was horrible to me and said it was all in my head and that i didnt really need the surgery.

But i went back again complained about my pain and discomfort and he refered me privately. However it cost me £150 just for an hours consultation and he said it would cost me £6000.

I have worked all my life and paid all my national insurance so why shouldt i be able to have the surgery on the NHS.

So again i went back to my doctor and asked him to refer me on the NHS, but he said no!

So i kep on going back till i got what i wanted! I also felt a bit silly but who cares what he thinks! So in the end he did refere me and i waited 9 months for my op!

Best thing i ever done in my life and i would do it all again if i had to. Ive had no problems and have healed extremely well. You can hardly see my scars.

Good luck, and if you need any more advice let me know.

xxx

NHS doctors are TERRIBLE at referring patients who want breast reductions to a plastic surgeon. it is totally down to each individual doctor as to whether or not u get referred.... i've been reading about it in a UK mag called Take a Break... they are running a campaign to get large breasted women taken more seriously by their GP's.... it featured one poor woman who'd been turned down for surgery by her doctor, even though she was a 36N !!!!!!!!! funnily enough, after they ran her story, she was offered a breast reduction on the NHS. all u can do is keep on requesting this on a regular basis..... they will take u more seriously if u put across the problems your breasts are causing u... both physical and mental....... if u still have no luck, go see a different doctor, or try to finds out how much the operation would cost if u were to go privately...... it might be quicker to save for it than to wait on the NHS list.

Is the lift or reduction for medical or cosmetic reasons. Medical as in your breasts are giving you health problems like they're hurting your back. If it's for cosmetic reasons then your GP is probably having trouble finding one. My suggestion, just go to the American Board of Plastic Surgeons website and find a plastic surgeon in your area.

Getting plastic surgery on the NHS takes sooo long lol. A mate of mine had a reduction on the NHS and it took her nearly a year to get her operation. I had a cyst in my upper lip and it took me a few months before they could remove it. I didn't go for a consultation for that - had that on the day really lol. Is it worth trying another doctor?

have you thought seriously about this girl not meaning to sound patronising sorry,
I sympathise with you totally I've been there thought about it but never actually gone through with it I'm a 34g but have been as big as a 38j scary....lol
This is major surgery if you have a reduction it's not cosmetic cos they actually take tissue from your body and there's no guarantees that it'll work,
I had a friend who was bigger than me they made her lose weight before they'd consider it so she struggled to lose only about2stone if that then they did it......
That right you guessed it she's put weight back on a couple of years down the line and her boobies are bigger than they were before and she's got ugly scars to boot
go out there girl get yourself some decent fitting pretty bra's avoid balconette bra's like the plague try m&s or a decent department store, feel good about yourself you don't have to flaunt them but with the right fitting bra you can turn heads without getting leered at hope this helps give it some serious thought though and be proud of who you are ;-)

Mr Simon Kay is a surgeon with an international reputation (he specialised in reconstructing hands) and a "special interest" in breast surgery. The man is an artist. I don't have a number for him but if you search on the internet you will find him. he is based in Leeds.

Call him everyday until he gets tired of you and finally recommends you a PS.

If he is not moving fast enough for you try talking to another person to get you a recommendation (I don't know how NHS works).

The scars are not as horrible as some say they are. Its been one year for me and my scars are 95% gone. Its all in how the doctor is and how you treat them after surgery. Make sure you look at as many before and after photos as possible, and take it into consideration how long after surgery the pictures are (scars take up to a year to fade).

Your breasts MAY get bigger in the future, gaining weight and pregnancy are the big issues. When you talk with the PS make sure both of you take that into account if you don't want them getting bigger

Good luck in your journey, I went through mine Feb 2006 (38J to 38C). This site below helped me out a LOT before and after my surgery, please check it out because it has a ton of information for you.

Tell him you are serious and would like a referral. Call back in 2 weeks to check on the referral. Keep bugging the office until it happens.
