Its been 35 days since my application was processed. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for the allowance to come through?

ooarleloo or however thats spelt, you are seriously misinformed. I will be receiving my maternity allowance because i WORKED,!! Everyone who works is entitled to either statutory maternity pay or maternity allowance you dickh*ad.

The reason i haven't rang the people is because they said it could take up to 40 days so i just wanted to see how long it took every one else. Next time get your facts straight you utter tw*t

iampatsajak why is it if you don't want to listen to people "whine" then why do you feel compelled to read questions relating to uk government benefits? Oh and not only read them but give a stupid answer that you wasted a minute of your life writing and a minute of mine having me read the damn thing.

I live in the U.S. but fortunately I know that the maternity allowance you are referring to is not welfare, not food stamps.
It is money that is granted through the government in the UK for working and expectant mothers. They get so much money for the 1st child, 2nd child so on and so forth. You get additional funds for having multiples.
This is a wonderful offering by their government and I wish us in the States were so lucky.
So people, if you don't know what the allowance is, don't give rude answers or hand out assumptions.
Sorry I don't know when you will receive it though.

i had the same problem as you my allowance took longer than they said it would and in the end up i had to ring them up Hun i got it all backdated as to when i should have started receiving it though Hun,so my advise would be wait until the 40 days are up then phone them other wise if you ring up now they will just say it can take u to 40 days so just hang in a little longer Hun then get them rung up good luck i know they can be a pain xx

Are you refering to welfare? Or are you from the UK Not sure what that is.... is maternity allowance something you get threw your employer? Your not from the US then I assume. I work and never recieved it.

I dont know why I was given thumbs down I was asking, I live in the US and to my knowledge the US doesnt do that.

phone them but whenever it does come through it'll be backdated, which has it's upsides!!!
I think it's not payable before the 15th week before your due or is it 11th??? twenty something weeks anyway!!

give them a ring is the only thing you can do.

There needs to be a yahoo questions UK version so I don't have to keep listening to people whine about their government handouts not coming fast enough.

... I can't believe people complain about US welfare sytem.

WTF are you talking about Lady? What application are you talking about? Why are people so DUMB? Why don't you ask the people that you filled out the application with? Jesus Christ! Maybe you can get extra food stamps if your having a multiple as well. Reconsider having children.
