I understand it's an issue especially for guys, but is our education system so bad that people don't realize that there isn't anything you can do about your height?

I know for a fact that I along with a lot of other guys want to be taller for sports.

I Box, I play football, I wrestle, people play basketball, I do MMA

Im only 5'9 but im around 185 and i benched 305 at 14 (i was 158 for wrestling), im a really strong kid naturally but I know my height could end up being a problem for me (i just turned 16 last week)

When striking i have a significant reach disadvantage, football, basketball height is really important.

Plus if i were a few inches taller like my brothers id be close to their weight (225-240) (6'+)

Also i cant be a heavyweight unless i grow which would be a dream come true

It depends on the society where one lives. I am 41 years young (yes young) and am 5'2" tall. In America, I am a short person; in Asia, I am closer to average height (about 5'5").

Growing up in America sucks for short people. Clothes don't fit well, so shopping is a major chore unless one can afford to tailor all thier clothes (socks and underwear excluded).

Going to a concert or the movies sucks because some taller person decides to stand or sit right in front of the short person thereby blocking the latter's view.

Bars and nightclub tables and chairs are uncomfortably high for a short person but just the right height for a taller person.

I don't experience these hassles here in Asia.

When younger, the girls usually prefer boys taller than they and rarely change this attitude in adulthood.

Lastly, in corporate America, most executives are above average height (based on studies by top business schools).

Trust me, it sucks to be short.

Education is not the solution because it's a physical and self-esteem issue; something education can't change. The only thing a short person can do is to go about their life as healthily as possible and refrain from dwelling on their stature and others' statures.

I got over "feeling" short but I still notice my environment whenever I visit America.

What the man above me said was pretty good. That, and everyone wants to be 6'2'' like me.

It sure seems that way. I guess that males feel self conscious when they are not as tall as their peers.
