An Associate's Degree is a two year degree. You can get an associate's in a number of trades such as nursing, mechanics etc.. You can also get an AA in degrees that usually require a four year education. This will allow you to more easily transfer to a four year program and complete it.
Getting an AA is cheap because it comes from a community college and is only two years. It is good because it increases your chances of getting a job.

For more information look at community colleges (you can view their websites online) and look at their AA programs.

An associates degree is a degree that you get from a community college. Not all of us have the finances to complete our college education and graduate from a 4-year college. So an associates degree is the next best thing.

Here is a website that has a list of US colleges and universities and includes a listing of community (programs up to 2 years) colleges: www.utexas.edu/world/univ/

And here is the website to learn about jobs and the training and schooling generally required for each job: US Occupational Outlook Handbook www.bls.gov/oco/ There is a 'search' box and one can type in certain jobs or careers and find out the educational requirements and such.

AA or Associate is for people who go to community colleges first and its transferable to a 4 year college. 60-63 credits in different thing. it is for you to find out what you really want to do also, some students like me get it so we can get our lower division classes in a CC where it is easier, cheaper, and your a big fish in a small pond i guess. others do it because if they did not get in to there choice school then they can apply again after AA
