Two blocks, one 0.8 kg and the other 2.0 kg are connected by a massless string over a frictionless pulley. The coefficient of kinetic friction is 0.14, and the downward ramp angle is 60 degrees.

a) Net force will be the component of the larger one's weight (m2*g) that points down the ramp, minus the friction. The friction is the component of the larger one's weight that is normal to the ramp, times mu.
Fnet = 2 kg*g*sin60 - 0.14*2 kg*g*cos60

That force accelerates both masses
Fnet = (m1+m2)*a

b) It is the tension in the string that causes the smaller mass to accelerate.
T = m1*a
