I would regard it as an interesting theory, but I wouldn't give it much weight. There are other possible origins, for example, mothers in some primitive societies have been observed feeding their young children by chewing the food for them and then passing it mouth to mouth. Another possibility is the idea that people used to sniff each other upon meeting, to determine whether they were tribally related.

Human interaction with baboons is rather limited, and it would be highly unlikely that humans would imitate baboon behavior.

I would wonder where you got that theory from, first of all.
Secondly, I would think that it sounds pretty interesting, so it might just be true.

i would say AWWWWW
but i'm pretty sure chimpanzees and bonobos actually kiss kiss. Ive read that bonobos use their tongue.
