Well i must say that i am very very inexperienced in the world of politics but i know a few things. If your worried that we will have a war with them like Iraq no worries if the president doesn't make agreements with the, then back out of them. I know that we offered protection and arms to Iraq and Iran? I'm not sure about Iran but 100% positive about Iraq. But after Iraq was attacked and asked for help from us we said we cant help you at this time. But if you are talking about a trade partner it can't be worse then with china. They control so much of our economy that if they stopped trading with us there would be a second Great Depression or worse. Well as i said my Info. may not be reliable or what you where looking for but there it is.

What makes you think that they aren't already a "credible international partner"?
If you mean that if Russia would buy into the US adgenda then that is your answer right there.
If you mean that they'd stop using international politics as a means of advancing their own international adgenda then they would be the first nation in the world to do such a thing.

The only partner Russia is interested in right now is Iran,
between the two of them they can hold the world hostage
and that's exactly what they plan to do! Like it or not!

Sorry I cannot write your paper, but basically the pro would be increased trade and commerce; the con would be that to date the Russians have only shown themselves to be a weak, but still lying, untrustworthy version of their previous communist incarnations.
