My grandsons live with me and have acquired rabbits. We want to breed meat rabbits for ourselves and those in the neighborhood who have expressed an interest. We are ready to begin, but I'm not sure a buck can be bred to more than one doe at a time. Is there a recommended waiting period to breed the buck to the second doe? Thanks.

When I breed my buck I breed him to as many does as he will breed. If he seems overworked them I don't breed him anymore but I might come out in a few hours and try him again on some other does. I let him breed each doe 3 times, then I wait a few hours and come back out and breed them together again, this increases the number of babies in the litter it also gives the buck some time to rest. I have bred my buck to 3 does each day for a week and haven't ever had a problem. I'd only worry if the buck were very old. Good Luck.

I bred rabbits and professionally showed them for years. Breeding can be very stressful on a buck. I would not breed a buck more than once in a day, twice in a week at the most (several days apart) for fear the animal may have a heart attack.
