become real friends with someone you met on internet?

yeah... this about 3 years ago and were still good friends now, he seems to tell me his thoughts and fears and viceversa. its nice to have a mate that there wont be consequences.

Yes I have, and he's still my friend today. We met on a singles website, more than a year ago, he lived in England and I'm here in the States. He even did a tour of duty overseas and through it all we stayed friends. Now he's back home in Florida and I try to see him as often as I can and he I. I plan to move to FL in August, 2007. I think meeting people over the internet is an excellent way to screen out the loonies. Take your time ask good questions and go with the flow. There are some pretty decent people hiding out there.

Yes, twice. Met my boyfriend on net 6 years ago, only been together properly almost a year and got another close friend I met about 7 years ago. Just so not to look too tragic do have friends I didn't meet on net too

I am sure it happens all the time......shy people are able to chat on the internet....gradually building up confidences....exchanging pics, phone numbers etc......so it must be almost be like knowing someobe by the time you meet them...
It is also much easier to confide in someone with no comeback to your day to day life......

i have friends that I can discuss anything with and neither of us is ever offended. we will never meet as they live in different states but we are friends.
