Okay, there are some really happy people in the world, are they born like that or do they learn a way to be like..really happy. And i don't mean they are ALWAYS happy, but most of the time they are...i was just wondering while sitting on the toilet...Are people just born that way?
or is there a way to learn how to be happy always?

Im sure all of us have gone through some tough times, if there IS a way to learn...let me know please...

Ps. Ive tried looking on the bright side of everything..but im not Always happy

Some people are born happy. Some people are not. There is huge variation in infant personalities. However we can also learn to be happy or not. Unfortunately a lot of basically happy people are taught that people who are happy aren't paying attention or aren't as astute as people who are constantly angry or depressed. I was an anxious, mostly unhappy child. I finally decided after reading some things about the damage negative emotions do to your body, and mind that I've had enough. It hasn't been easy but I have chosen to be happy. Yes you can choose. It's a matter of retraining yourself but it can be done and the effect that it has on your energy level, immune system etc. is worth the effort.

I think we learn to become happy but we also react to our environment. My early childhood was happy and I was very happy but as I got older there was violence and anger and I had very low self esteem and felt unwanted.
I seem to have followed the same cycle all my life; when life is good I'm happy and when things go badly wrong for reasons I can't control I'm unhappy.
Despite this I would say that I have a happy nature because I know from past experience that I will eventually get beyond the bad times. In fact a colleague mentioned today that my mug suits my personality; it has Winnie the Pooh on one side and the word "Joyful" on the other.

We all have are ups and downs.

Stress comes from our interpretation of the problems difficulty, and not from the problem itself!

Attitude, Attitude, Attitude!!!

Of course some of it is genetic.
My example-I usually am a happy person.
I take after my father who is also usually a happy person.
My mother - not so happy.
My sister (who takes after my mother) not so happy!

I had two sons - My first son was not so happy. I couldn't understand why. I was so happy to have a baby, I loved him and played with him but he liked being aloner. He was a good child, hardly ever had to be told twice not to do something.

The younger one was happy from the time he was born! He was mischieves and had to be disciplined alot but was always happy.

I have pictures of both of them before they were even one year old, guess who was laughing and who was not!

My boys are adults now and my oldest one has learned to show his happiness a little more but still his personality is not like mine!

I have not had an easy life, I suffer with depression, I've been divorced, Sometimes it's hard to be happy. But I know in my heart that I am a happy and content person.

You have to learn to view things in the right perspective and really believe it in your heart in order for it to change your outlook in life.

Yes, you can learn to be happy and content. Sometimes you have to dig deep to find out why you are not!

Even the people who are "always happy" arent really ALWAYS happy. I'm one of those people. I was born a happy child, but then as I grew up I became miserable.....
then I learned that I only have control over so much in my life
and I cant worry about the things that I cant control....
so now I am usually happy, but I still have my unhappy moments.

No one is naturally born happy, and you don't really learn to be happy. Some people have harder lives than others. Some people have different ways of looking at things. Some people have perfect lives. I'm sorry but there's not a way to actually LEARN how to be happy.

Well my 3 month old baby seems pretty happy, he smiles at me lots because I provide him with everything he needs - food, clothes and lots of love. I hope he grows up happy.

I wonder that when you start to understand your surroundings and the world at large that things make you unhappy, you feel let down and perhaps depressed at certain things going on in your life.

IMHO there are people who are of a happy disposition and laugh a lot. These are good people to hang about with as if you are feeling down you can feed off of them.

If I am feeling down I just remember how lucky I am to be healthy, have a roof over my head, food in my fridge and people who love me. Not everyone in the world has this.

Being a naturally upbeat person helps, but ultimately happiness is a product of your environment and circumstances. These circumstances include things you do to make yourself happy, be that deep meditation or just walking the dog more often.

If you are sad there is usually a reason. Unless you are part of the 0.00000000000001% who are just programmed to be unhappy there is something CAUSING your unhappiness.

I think that they are just plain born happy. All of my friends are always bright and bubbly, and it's irritating. Looking on the bright side doesn't help at all....
but sometimes looking at the dark side does.

I think that if someone is always happy they must have been born that way. If you smile, that makes you feel happy.
