It's fine to start feeding her finger foods, just make sure you feed her very small pieces and something that is easily broken up or softer. Breads and bananas are great, any soft fruit, sweet potatoes, peeled grapes, no hot dogs, or anything with a skin on it that makes it hard to "squish". Citrus fruits aren't a good idea because she's still too young to digest them properly, and make sure you only introduce one new food every 3+ days so that if she has an allergic reaction you know what it was. This is coming from a was a by-the-book paranoid first timer, lol. Also, babyzone.com is a great site for this kind of info. Good luck!

When my son had surgery at 8 months old the hospital brought him a diced ham dinner. I hadn't given him any solid meat at that time yet. It was probably the best meal he ever had at that point. They love to snack on green beans, soft like canned . (they don't know what picky is)
raw carrots and apples especially with the peal are extremely dangerous. So are sliced hot dogs
You can always lightly bounce his belly off you shoulder if you think he's choking. Learned that the hard way, but I was amazed of how easy the object came out.

The first "food" I fed all of my kids was cheerios after that I would say very soft mashed foods - potatoes, squash etc. The gerber puffs are good they seem to like them but they also dissolve very quickly which really doesnt give them the chance to "chew" I usually just give them 1 cheerio at a time to start and encourage them to chew, chew, chew while "showing" them how. I wouldnt go to crazy with a variety of foods/textures until she gets used to the whole chewing thing

You can soak cheerios in water first to make them soft and see if that works. Also tiny pieces of banana work, or little pieces of bread. Apples aren't a good idea. Maybe avacado, sweet potato, very ripe pears, slivers of cantaloupe, anything that can be mashed with the gums or that disolves easily.

Cheerios are great....also try Gerber Biscuits, Zweiback Toast, and Arrowroot Cookies. They all disolve in the mouth real fast. I WOULD NOT GIVE HIM APPLES!!!!! This sounds like a choking hazard.

apples aren;t the best thing to start with i would start with cherios they are recomended as finger food for babies and have the hole in the middle to make you feel a little bit safer about the choking thing also gerber has great snack foods for toddlers like these little stars and they are made out of rice cereal which has lots of iron good for brain developement and they practically melt in their mouth i also would not give bread its sort of a choking hazard how about baby biscuits? they are great but if you daughter has lots of teeth it means you have to watch her more carefully bc she can bite it off where as other babies cannot my son got all his teeth super early and would constantly accidently bite off peices just always watch and be ready to scoop out things from their mouth don't worry you'll get good at this usually they'll have it sorted out before you get your finger in their mouth they have a great gag reflex but be ready

have you tired mashed food first? you should tried it so that she can get use to the whole how to shallow and what not. with my daughter, i bought some solid finger food in the baby section of store and start off there becuase i know that it is the right size for her. ceerios is always good to start off with also. no sugar and there's a hole so the food doesn't slip off her fingers easily.
good luck with the feeding. i hope everything goes well.

I think 7 months is too young for finger foods. My son was eating stage 2 foods and foods that were soft like mashed potatoes and grits.

if you are afraid of her choking on it the just go to the store in the baby food isle and get things call gerber graduates. They have these things that are like cereal puffs in all different flavors and they disolve so babies don't actually have to chew them. They also have other things in the baby food isle that are for babies just learning how to feed themselves and eat solid foods
