I just got my letter back over the weekend from Rollins College, my first choice (well, actually, I didn't get into Loyola Marymount University, so now Rollins is my first choice :P), and the letter says that last year about 1/2 the students who were on the wait list were offered admission. What can I do to really increase my chances of getting in? If I'm accepted then I definitely plan to enroll.

Honestly, the one thing I encourage my students to do if they are wait listed is to write another letter that would explain why they really should be allowed to attend the university. The letter should explain extenuating circumstances, or other issues that would allow the university to look at your academic file. However, this time around they look at it with a different eye since they see there were circumstances beyond your control that might have hindered you from fully attaining academic success. Also, if you are the first person in your family to attend college please make sure that in this follow up letter that you make that point clear.

I had a 2060 SAT and a 4.40 GPA. i became also vice chairman of the pupil body. I were given rejected from columbia. yet a minimum of I were given into UC Berkeley, UCLA, and college of Chicago - prepare to different prestigious colleges! The Ivy League form call is overrrated besides. i have considered more than a number of little ones cry, attempt suicide, or get depressed over no longer transferring into Ivy League colleges! that is rattling close to no longer achieveable!

Write a letter and show as much enthusiasm as you're showing here.

i would write another letter and GO FOR PITY. I mean really unless your parents can donate them a school tower, "it was my dead grandma's dream for me to go to this college and I have struggled all of my life to get in to this college and I will do what ever it takes for me to get accepted "

If that does not work go to a CC then apply again.
