everytime i try to add new music the songs that were on my ipod get deleted

that's not how it should go maybe you need to fix your ipod settings so that when you sync all songs on your library will sync. unless you only have it set to transfer songs that have just been imported

If you are deleting the music from iTunes after they transfer to the iPod, that is your problem. The song file must be in iTunes for the songs to remain on the iPod. So just make sure that the song file is in iTunes.

As someone already mentioned just ensure that the song remains on your iTunes and has not been deleted otherwise it will be removed from you ipod on next update.
